DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist‘s Renegades of Rhythm Tour in Vancouver.
Vancouver’s crate-digging subculture came out in full force for the DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist show at the Commodore on Thursday night. The two DJs are touring with about 250 records from the personal collection of Bronx-bred hip-hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa. Before the show opened, Shadow (aka Joshua Davis) told the crowd what to expect before he and Chemist dropped the need. While the world-famous DJs, using six turntables, trawled through the collection of favourite tracks, images from Bambaataa’s record collection filled the screen behind them.
