Eleanor Friedberger at the Media Club in Vancouver. Friedberger, who along with her brother Matthew Friedberger is in the Fiery Furnaces , is on tour for her second solo album, Personal Record. Montreal band TEEN played also.
Backed by a four-piece band, Friedberger ran through a set that included “My Mistakes” (for a final song of a two-song encore) from her solo debut Last Summer. But the highlights were tracks from the stunning and exceedingly smart Personal Record record, including “Stare At the Sun”, “I’ll Never Be Happy Again” and “I Am the Past”.

Friedberger co-wrote the record with 47-year-old novelist Wesley Stace, who has also had a career as a folk singer under the name John Wesley Harding since 1988.
