Adam Sandler sets new record for worst-movie nominees
Now that the humdrum 2012 Academy Awards debacle has limped to a finish line, we can turn our attention to the awards that really matter; this year’s Razzies.
To no one’s surprise except maybe his mom, Adam Sandler – with a whopping 11 nominations – is in the forefront of the annual awards. According to the Razzies’ homepage, this is a new record for “most razzies in a single year”; Sandler is nominated (some would say he’s a shoo-in) for actor, producer and screenwriter for his “work”, if you can call it that, on not just one but three motion picture achievements: Just Go With It, Bucky Larson, and Jack and Jill. Sandler has bested Eddie Murphy, the previous record holder with five nods.
In fact, Sandler is the first actor in history to be nominated for both Worst Actor (for male twin Jack in Jack and Jill) AND Worst Actress (as female twin Jill).
Other notable nominees: the romantic comedy New Year’s Eve, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and Breaking Dawn: Part I, the fourth part of the Twilight saga, all up for Worst Picture.
The winners will be announced April 1 (April Fool’s Day) 2012.
