The vampire romance genre gets the Jim Jarmusch treatment in Only Lovers Left Alive. The movie reportedly took seven years to complete but eventually earned Jarmusch a Palme d’Or nomination at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. Starring Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston (Loki in Marvel movies), it’s been getting mostly positive reviews in North America.
The indie director is best known for off-kilter, character-driven narratives such as Dead Man, with Johnny Depp, and Broken Flowers, starring Bill Murray. Only Lovers Left Alive starts its run at Cineplex International Village this Friday April 25.
