to be good is fine enough.
to be bad,
well, to be honest,
one needs the bad
to cleanse
the
Live Music
palette
oh, brothers/sisters
i experienced
the very baddest in The Bad
recently
a classical event,
The Horror and The Shame
(i won’t go into details
to spare the exploited
and there was
exploitation of innocence)
my friend and i
we escaped
as soon as the intermission
was announced,
freedom!
The Beautiful!
every band,
every musician,
every performer,
every artist,
(every writer)
wants to
experience
dreams of
achieving,
climbing
the grandest heights,
to command
them
to summit
and feel the sense
of awe
some
P
O
W
E
R
!
to sense
that Beauty
all around
and
to shine,
The Beautiful Ones
recently
Montreal’s
Nightwood! at Music Trader
Ridley Bent, Cameron Latimer, Dustin Bentall
and their musician friends, including
Outlaw Social’s Kendel Carson on fiddle
and
Chris Dunn, the Craziest Genius guitarist playing
in My Winnipeg!
The Bottle and The Truth Show
at Times Changed
and The Sheepdogs
at The Park Theatre
60 minutes
of the fiercest Southern
USA mid 1970s rock n roll
for 170 fortunate
sons and daughters.
That’s The Beautiful.
You’ve heard a (very) little
about The Bad.

it’s all good and yes,

on a Tuesday night. and i would
say
110 of them
young and mostly female
came right up to the stage
and bopped their heads
and cheered
when they finished

Nightwood
came to mind.
into my journal.
i’m writing.
with two women
fronting
both playing guitars
no bass
some bass guitar parts
for sure
and a great drummer
just Like Damon.
the how and ways
of seeing Beauty
just that one
extra
female voice
and guitar
adds so much more
to the brilliance
power
of Nightwood.
just how that extra
(young) female
perspective
and playing
lifts
Nightwood.
into The Beautiful.
