Photographer Amber Anne Dawkins enjoyed Peaches‘ Phoenix Concert Theatre show:

“Words cannot describe the pure insanity that was Peaches,” she writes.

“Creepy, theatrical, spacey and sexy as all hell. Think The Dark Crystal‘s Skeksis meets the Starship Enterprise at a burlesque show. Totally absurd and amazing. Everyone, GO SEE PEACHES!!”

Peaches, aka Merrill Nisker, is a Toronto-raised composer/theatrical artist living in Berlin. She once lived with recording artist Feist. Her 2000 EP The Teaches of Peaches was an underground sensation. Subsequent albums include Fatherfucker, Impeach My Bush, and 2009’s I Feel Cream.

The singer is known for her over-the-top performances and explicit song lyrics. Her singles include “Lovertits”, “Set It Off”, “Rock Show”, “Kick It” (featuring Iggy Pop), and “Talk to Me”.

Her music has been featured in the movies Lost in Translation and Drive Angry (“Fuck the Pain Away”), Mean Girls (“Operate”), The L Word (“Boys Wanna Be Her”) and more.

According to a Wikipedia entry on her, she lists John Waters, Cindy Sherman, Paul McCarthy and the films Tron, Grease, Liquid Sky and Phantom of the Paradise as inspiration for the visuals in her live shows.
