Album preview show – Ora Cogan, Shawdowland

Ora Cogan is previewing songs from her new album Shadowland April 14 (Thursday) at the Fox Cabaret.

The record was produced by Trish Klein of the Be Good Tanyas. The album is released digitally and on cassette May 6 on Hidden City Records. A special vinyl release of the record with Portland label Beacon Sound will be in the hands of fans by summertime. Pre-orders for all formats will be available April 15.

Listen – Ora Cogan, “Ruler of My Heart”:

According to the bio posted on her website, Cogan was born on Salt Spring Island, BC in 1982 and “was raised by a family of artists, encouraged to follow the tune in her own head. She became a part of Vancouver’s eclectic music scene at the age of 19, co-producing her 2010 album The Quarry with Jesse Taylor at Nite Prison and collaborating with a multitude of artists participating in Fake Jazz Wednesdays & Her Jazz Noise Collective.

“Cogan has released six full-length recordings to date and has shared the stage with the likes of Chelsea Wolfe, Hope Sandoval and Grouper while touring extensively across Europe and North America for the past 10 years. She has appeared on radio shows, such as WNYC’s Spinning on Air, and played numerous festivals including Vancouver Folk Festival, The Festival of Endless Gratitude in Denmark, and Tanned Tin in Spain.”
