Atlanta, Georgia’s reigning kings of flower punk the Black Lips put on their game faces to participate in Converse’s “Band of Ballers” basketball tournament in Atlanta on Saturday, May 1. Joining the fray will be teams comprised of other key players from the local music scene including, but not limited to, Jim Jones, Shawty Lo, Pill, Of Montreal, OJ Da Juiceman, Jay Electronica, Donnis, Sean Price, and Jermaine Dupri.
For participation in the event, the Black Lips will receive $5,000, all of which it will donate to the Auditory Verbal Centre Inc. The non-profit organization is dedicated to the rehabilitation of deaf children, some of whom have been outfitted with cochlear implants in order to play music.
The Black Lips are challenging the other players to do the same with their participation fees.
