Contest – win tickets to Black Mountain at the Waldorf Hotel, Vancouver Aug 26 2012
Black Mountain headlines a rocking summer bill at an outdoor show at the Waldorf Hotel Saturday Aug 25 in Vancouver, and we have three sets of tickets to giveaway courtesy of the East Side venue.
This is an extra-special ultra-Vancouver bill that includes Ladyhawk, performing songs from their new album No Can Do, and Basketball, performing songs in Croatian. It’s all-ages, but with a beer garden for the big kids too.
All you have to do to enter to win is to get on the ol’ Twitter and tweet this: “Hey I’ve just entered to win tix to see Black Mountain Aug 26 courtesy @WaldorfHotel & @TheSnipeNews! Sweet!”
Actually, you don’t have to include “Sweet”. “Boo-yah” will also do.
You can also enter by leaving a comment below. Simply tell us the name of your favourite summer song released in 1971 by The Stampeders.
Also on the Aug 25 bill are Quest for Fire and Von Bingen.
After the Vancouver show, Black Mountain heads south on a West Coast tour that takes them to Seattle, Portland and various other cities.
Of course, many people will be heading out to Live at Squamish that weekend, but that just means more fun for the rest of us staying behind.
We’ll announce the winners of the contest at noon Friday Aug 24.
About Black Mountain:
Black Mountain formed in Vancouver in 2004. Albums include Black Mountain (2005), In the Future (2008) and Wilderness Heart (2010). The group’s latest is Year Zero: Original Soundtrack, a soundtrack to a surf movie.
You can hear the song “Mary Lou” from the album on the Jagjaguwar website’s Black Mountain page. As with much of the band’s previous oeuvre, the song is a mega-psychedelic trip through the cosmic labyrinth.
