80s-set movie Take Me Home Tonight opens, finally. Plus: soundtrack highlights.

When Take Me Home Tonight opens this Friday, the movie will have been sitting on the shelf for nearly four years. One reason, says star Grace, is because of the depiction of cocaine use (gasp!).

Filmed in 2007, the 80s-set coming-of-age story stars Topher Grace, Anna Faris and Teresa Palmer. (Teresa Palmer photo gallery.)

Interviewed about the movie for the New York Times, Grace said the reason the movie hasn’t been released until now is because of cocaine use. Not off-set but in the movie – the actor was quote as saying not showing cocaine use in the hard-partying ’80s would have been like avoiding alcohol in Prohibition-era-set movies.

And no 80s movie would be complete without a soundtrack that includes such gems of the era as “Hungry Like the Wolf” and “Video Killed the Radio Star”. According to amazon.com, which doesn’t have a complete listing (the release date mentioned is March 29), artists include The Human League, Yaz, NWA, Pete Townshend, Duran Duran, The Buggles and Motley Crue.
