Clara-Nova in Vancouver towards the end of their tour with Polica.
Sydney Wayser is the LA-based artist behind the group, which is touring as a duo. She released the debut Clara-Nova EP The Bronze Age last year. Details Magazine said that “Wayser’s new approach as Clara-Nova oozes out of the speakers and lifts your soul right up. Her approach to jangly indie pop has matured; her voice more relaxed and open, her melodies more refined, and her presence as bewitching as ever.”
According to the Clara-Nova Facebook page, Wayser grew up between Los Angeles and New York, while spending her summers in Paris. The Louvre Palace and the Orangerie being only a few blocks from her apartment, she quickly gleaned much of French culture, leading her to musical influences that include Edith Piaf, Serge Gainsbourg, and Jacques Brel, among many others.”
Wayser released three albums under her own name, including 2007’s Silent Parade, 2009’s The Colorful and 2012’s Bell Choir Coast.
