From Stefani Germanotta to Lady Gaga

Whatever you think of her music, the transformation of Lady Gaga from brunette NYU student to blonde sci-fi superstar really is remarkable. She is her own superhero, Lady Gaga is; compare her latest video, for the Madonna rip-off “Born This Way”, to a live video of Stefani Germanotta (as she was then known) sitting at a piano and singing a ballad.

And here’s Lady Gaga the way she really was born, as Stefani Germanotta, performing the songs “Captivated” and “Electric Kiss” at NYU’s annual talent show Ultraviolet Live. She came in third, after Funky Butter and Tom Costello and Stephan Magloire.
