Rose Cousins brings her talents to the Media Club Nov 12. The Nova Scotia-based singer songwriter is currently on a North American tour for her latest album We Have Made a Spark.

Cousins released the album, her third, last February to critical acclaim. Not only did it make the long list for the Polaris Music Prize, but it is also up for six Nova Scotia Music Awards and three Canadian Folk Music Awards. It has received glowing reviews on the strength of Cousins’ voice and songwriting abilities.

On We Have Made a Spark, Cousins blurs the lines between country, rock, pop and folk in stories of heartbreak and resiliency. She has said of the heavily emotional material, “We develop patterns that keep us from moving forward. It takes a deep breath and a bucket of courage to face the uncomfortable, painful things we work so hard to avoid. Reward comes from recognizing the obstacle exists and pushing through fear.”

Last February, Cousins also released If I Should Fall Behind, a short film that documents the unique music community in Boston that she was welcomed into while she recorded her album there.

Cousins has also collaborated with many Canadian artists including Joel Plaskett, In-Flight Safety, and Matt Mays.
