Nerdfest will return for its second year Nov 23 at the Biltmore Cabaret. The annual variety show features local headliners Scythia, fresh off their Canada wide tour. Vancouver bands The Whiskey Dicks and The Carnival Band open.

Scythia’s latest release is For the Bear.  The EP features two new songs as well as remixes from the folk-metal band’s 2010 debut, … Of War.

The band’s costumed presence is a perfect fit for Nerdfest. As Scythia vocalist Dave Khan explains in a press release, “Nerdfest II is a great opportunity to share Scythia’s unique blend of storytelling, theatrics and metal with a diversified audience.  We can’t wait to be at home among our fellow costumed enthusiasts and vendors of Medieval wares.”

The annual convention gives Vancouver’s fantasy and medieval community an opportunity to come together and enjoy an array of exhibitions. Belly dancing, burlesque, fire dancing and live weapons demonstrations are among the other attractions–along with a costume contest and a medieval dating game for nerds to find true, eternal love.
