Tame Impala passed through Vancouver last night (April 21) just a few months after their last show here (Dec 10 2010) at the Biltmore Cabaret.

This time, the Australian psychedelic stoner-rock rock band this time brought their woozy, narcotic sound to the larger Commodore Ballroom. It wasn’t quite sold-out for the scruffy, skinny Perth quartet, but a respectable number – especially for a hockey playoffs night – of people turned up. Opener Yuck reportedly played a “mellow” set.

The band’s song “Sundown Syndrome” was included on the soundtrack of the Oscar-nominated film The Kids Are All Right, and “Half Full Glass Of Wine” was used in HBO’s hit TV series Entourage as the closing song for an episode. Not sure if this had anything to do with the increase in venue size, though.

Currently on tour to support their debut album InnerSpeaker, the band is scheduled to play a sold-out show tonight (April 22) at Neumos in Seattle before heading to New York.
