Vocalist Jon Anderson, bassist Chris Squire, guitarist Peter Banks, keyboardist Tony Kaye, and drummer Bill Bruford formed the band in London in 1968. They enjoyed a run of successful albums, including The Yes Album (1971), Fragile (1971), and Close to the Edge (1972). The band is known as pioneering both the sound of prog-rock and the sights. Their elaborate stage shows included sets and light displays, and Roger Dean designed their striking album covers. The success of the Fragile single “Roundabout” is a classic-rock radio staple.

The band broke up in 1981 but reformed with a different lineup two years later. The result was 90125 (1983), their highest-selling album. It featured the MTV hit and U.S. number-one single, “Owner of a Lonely Heart”.

The current North American Yestival Tour includes at least one song from each album from Yes to Drama. Howe’s son Dylan has joined the band as a second drummer.
