Scissor Sisters on tour for their 2012 album Magic Hour.

The band formed in 2001, taking its name from the female same-sex sexual activity tribadism (a sex act in which a woman rubs her vulva against her partner’s body for sexual stimulation). Its members include vocalists Jake Shears and Ana Matronic, multi-instrumentalist Babydaddy, guitarist/bassist Del Marquis, and drummer Randy Real.

The band came to prominence through their Grammy-nominated disco version of Pink Floyd‘s “Comfortably Numb” and 2004 self-titled debut. The album was a success, particularly in the UK where it reached number one, was the best-selling album of 2004, was later certified platinum by the BPI, and accrued them three BRIT Awards in 2005.

Magic Hour is the band’s fourth album.
