An heir to Stanley Kubrick you say? Jonathan Glazer’s long-awaited film Under the Skin is already being lauded as a transformative moment in science fiction. And we’ve got some swag to give away, courtesy of Mongrel Media!
The prize pack includes the original soundtrack on vinyl featuring the compositions of Mica Levi (of Micachu and the Shapes) courtesy of Milan Records; a copy of Michael Faber’s original novel, Under the Skin provided by Harper Collins Canada; and tickets to a screening in Vancouver from the fine folks at Mongrel Media.

Under the Skin stars Scarlett Johansson as a seductive, alien character (yes, it’s a real stretch) in Scotland’s underbelly who takes human form and lures in defenceless prey for her amusement. But as she grows more attached to her new body and environs, the film becomes an exploration of human cognition and empathy.
Glazer’s prior movies include the excellent Sexy Beast (2001), starring Ben Kingsley, and the underrated Birth (2004), with Nicole Kidman. Both could be viewed as stylistic precursors to Under the Skin, which looks like it’s going to be one of the most unusual science fiction films in decades.
“Lovely, lethal, and out of this world.” – the New York Times
“A genesis moment of sci-fi fable, of filmmaking and of performance.” – Los Angeles Times
Under the Skin opens in Toronto and Vancouver on Friday, May 9.
