The Wolverine to film in Vancouver
Word is that a second Wolverine movie will begin shooting in November in Vancouver.
The Vancouver Sun is reporting that filming of The Wolverine will take place Nov 11 to March 1 at the same Burnaby studio where Twilight, Supernatural and Fantastic Four were filmed.
According to IMDB, James Mangold (Knight and Day, 3:10 to Yuma) is directing the movie, which is based on a Marvel Comics character with razor sharp talons that never draw blood because the movies are made for a general audience, and which is a sequel to the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie that no one liked.
The Usual Suspects writer Christopher McQuarrie has apparently written the script. The movie’s IMDB page sums up the plot thus: “Wolverine travels to Japan to train with a samurai warrior.”
Other superhero movies being filmed in Vancouver include Man of Steel, the Superman reboot helmed by Zach Snyder, whom few people think should be allowed on a movie set following Sucker Punch.
Prognosis: better than Green Lantern (perhaps), not as good as… uh… what was the last decent superhero movie? Oh yeah, some people liked X-Men: First Class.
