Kylie Minogue launches world tour in Denmark

We here in North America sometimes forget there’s a whole world of music lovers, and music-loving markets, out there.

This past Sunday, Katy Perry kicked off her current Teenage Dream World Tour in Lisbon, Portugal. Meanwhile, in a small town in Demark, another pop singer, Australian Kylie Minogue, launched her latest spectacle .

Aphrodite – Les Folies features an opener where Kylie Minogue appearing in a giant clam shell (move over, Lady Gaga). The show also features water fountains, a chariot, flying angels, a pool party, and Kylie in eight Dolce & Gabana outfits (see video below).

Minogue, who has been at this longer than would-be usurpers of the pop-crown queen Perry and Lady Gaga combined, seems determined to outshine her competition. Naysayers will bemoan a time when it was all about the music, and not about the spectacle. But they can just go and listen to their Incredible String Band records.
