Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth cast in The Hunger Games
Last week’s rumours about The Hunger Games casting appear to be correct: Josh Hutcherson (The Kids Are All Right) and Liam Hemsworth (The Last Song and the younger brother of Thor star Chris Hemsworth) have officially been cast in The Hunger Games movie. Lionsgate announced yesterday that Hutcherson has been cast as Peeta Mellark and hunky Hemsworth will be playing the role of Gale Hawthorne.
As previously announced, the Gary Ross-directed film will also star Jennifer Lawrence as protagonist Katniss Everdeen. The film, based on the New York Times bestseller by the same name, is slated for release by Lionsgate on March 23, 2012.
