Foals Vancouver concert announced
Foals has announced North American tour dates in support of Holy Fire, the UK band’s third album. Included in the tour itinerary is a Vancouver date at the Commodore Ballroom, May 30. The tour kicks off in Reno, Nevada, April 20.
The band originated in Oxford, England. There Yannis Philippakis (26), Jack Bevan (27), Walter Gervers (28), Edwin Congreave (28) and Jimmy Smith (28) “convened after spells in various well regarded bands such as The Edmund Fitzgerald, whose intricacies were a league away from the Libertines-influenced indie skiffle and American garage rock that dominated at the time,” according to a press release.
The group released its debut album Antidotes in 2004, after Foals had already become an acclaimed live act. In 2007 they released the follow-up, Total Life Forever.
For Holy Fire, the band employed experienced producers Flood and Alan Moulder (Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins).
Tickets for the May 30 Commodore Ballroom are $25 and go on sale Feb 15. Openers are Surfer Blood and Blondfire, an L.A. pop duo composed of Bruce and Erica Driscoll.
