Elvis Costello opens for The Strokes in New York

On April 1, fans turning out for The Strokes at Madison Square Garden were treated to a surprise performance by Elvis Costello.

According to Twitter reports, an unannounced Costello came out, played three songs and left.

@themigs Tweeted that the three songs were “Pump It Up”, “Radio Radio” and “(What’s So Funny) ‘Bout Peace Love and Understanding” – three of Costello’s best known songs.

The Strokes start their tour in support of Angles, their long-awaited fourth album, later this month at Coachella.
