Kat Dennings can currently be seen as Natalie Portman’s friend in the big-screen adaptation of Marvel Comics Norse god saga Thor, directed by Kenneth Branagh.

However, poor Kat is also in Daydream Nation, a Canadian indie release that steals the title of a Sonic Youth album without giving anything back to the genre of indie coming-of-age flicks. It’s screenplay is so desperate it actually falls back on the old standby of a serial killer preying on high school students in a small town.

Nor is it her first indie Canadian movie; Kat Dennings also co-stars, with Woody Harrelson, in the 2009 superhero flick Defendor. Dennings, born Katherine Litwack in 1986, has also starred in The House Bunny, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, and another superhero movie – Defendor, starring Woody Harrelson. Her breakout role was in the 2000 Sex and the City Episode “Hot Child in the City”.
