Michelle Monaghan stars in the new sci-fi thriller Source Code

The new sci-fi thriller Source Code (which opens today, April 1) stars Jake Gyllenhaal and, more importantly, Michelle Monaghan.

The Iowa-born actress, who studied journalism in Chicago, first caught our attention in the crime thriller Gone Baby Gone, although it turns out she was also in another terrific little meta-noir flick called Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, with Robert Downey Jr. She co-starred opposite Downey again in last year’s not-well-received (understatement) road comedy bromance Due Date.

Anyway, we have high hopes for this one, which Slate calls “completely ridiculous but kind of fun anyway.” Hopefully it will be at least better than The Adjustment Bureau, another ridiculous sci-fi potboiler. But if not, we still have this sweet and sexy Michelle Monaghan photo gallery:
