New in theatres – The Muppets, A Dangerous Method and Hugo
- by Shawn Conner
What a week! All four of this week’s big releases have been getting good reviews. We’d expect this of Hugo (Martin Scorsese), The Muppets (who doesn’t love the Muppets?) and A Dangerous Method (Cronenberg), but Arthur Christmas? Just the title makes our collective stomach churn. [Read Regan Payne's take on Hugo.]
So, since there’s nothing to be made fun of (except for Jack and Jill, which still sits at a whopping four per cent approval rating at Rotten Tomatoes), we’re going to forgo the usual capsule comments, trailers and aggregate scores for the big new flicks. We’ll be back next week with hopefully a more comprehensive rundown of Hollywood’s latest attempts to separate you from your money, but in the meantime here’s what’s happening in other Vancouver theatres this week.
