Game of Thrones Blu-ray/DVD extras, release date announced
Fans of HBO’s epic fantasy series at last have a release date for the DVD of the first season. Game of Thrones Season One comes to DVD and Blu-ray March 6 2012.
The 10-episode first season was based on Game of Thrones, the first book of George R.R. Martin‘s epic, proposed seven-part (five have been published so far) fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire. The show has been renewed for a second season.
Game of Thrones, which stars Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey, Jack Gleeson, Sean Bean, Peter Dinklage, Jason Momoa and many others will be presented on Blu-ray in 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. Suggested pricing for Game of Thrones: Season 1 on Blu-ray is $79.98. Pre-orders are currently selling for around $20 less at Amazon.com.
Unsurprisingly, many of the extras announced seem to be geared towards helping viewers understand just what the heck is going on in the complex, multi-POV series.
