So what do you think of the cover art for Christina Aguilera’s forthcoming (summer 2010) album, Bionic?
Considering Guttersnipe grew up with a Six Million Dollar Man doll (complete with Kung Fu TM grip! Uhm, why are we telling you this?) we approve. It’s about time someone of Aguilera’s stature (30 million albums sold, five-time Grammy winner, blonde) tried to revive the whole cybernetics/bionics craze from the ’70s. Hopefully this is just the beginning of an avalanche of bionic tie-ins.
But the most interesting thing about the album, besides the cover art, is whom she’s chosen to collaborate. Sia, Tricky Stewart, Polow Da Don, Le Tigre, Hill & Switch, and Ladytron are among her co-conspirators. So, unfortunately is the wretched Linda Perry. We do not have high hopes for “Lift Me Up”, a ballad written and produced by the former 4 Non Blondes hack.
“Not Myself Tonight”, the first single from Bionic, premieres on ChristinaAguilera.com at 6pm EDT on 3/30, and “impacts” (not our word – the record company’s) radio on 4/5 and will be available on iTunes on 4/13.
In addition to the album, Aguilera’s fourth, the singer has completed production on her first film, Burlesque, which co-stars Cher, Stanley Tucci, and Kristen Bell, and will be released by ScreenGems this fall.
