New release—Gold & Youth’s lyric video for The Worse the Better

Gold & Youth has just released a new lyric video to tease their forthcoming album. The very new wave “The Worse the Better” precedes the Nov 5 release of Dream Baby, a full-length on Paper Bag Records.

Matthew Lyall is the primary songwriter and frontperson for the band. He describes the track as “a fun little bop about water-sliding into the abyss. A woozy anthem for the downwardly mobile about the crushing banality of evil rendered by the acid vat of late-stage capitalism as we work dead-end jobs at the end of history and pray for some technocratic savior to build us a biodome on Mars. Loud and fast and then sputtering and wheezing, kind of like a dream machine going kaputt as it runs out of gas. Truly the feel-bad hit of the summer!”

Lyall wrote and recorded Dream Baby in his apartment over the past two years. Gold & Youth bandmates include Louise Burns (vocals, bass), Jeff Mitchelmore (drums), and Murray McKenzie (guitar).

To order the album, including a limited-run of just 100 copies on “candy floss” vinyl, visit paperbagrecords.com.
