Book launch – Rodney DeCroo at Little Mountain Gallery Sept 22

Allegheny, BC by Rodney DeCroo is a new collection of poems by Vancouver-based musician Rodney DeCroo. Published by Nightwood Editions, the poems describe DeCroo’s childhood in a small coal town outside Pittsburgh in western Pennsylvania and his young adult years in Canada.

To launch the book, DeCroo will read from Allegheny BC and perform some songs with bassist Mark Haney Saturday, Sept 22 at Little Mountain Gallery (195 East 26th and Main). The lineup includes Doug Andrews, Torsten Muller, The Minimalist Jug Band and Christie Rose.

Doors open at 7:45 and the show starts at 8:15. Tickets are available at the door for $10.00.

On Art Threat, Michael Nenonen writes, “He [DeCroo]  wields poetry like a scalpel, slicing away superfluous language until only truth remains. That truth is the only one available to us, the one that says our lives matter: that regardless of how badly the river sickens us, we are each of us openings into infinite strangeness, infinite depth.”
