David Lester presents new graphic novel The Listener at Word On the Street

-by Shadi Maceac

Vancouver-based artist, author and guitar player David Lester presents his graphic novel The Listener at Word On The Street Sunday Sept 25. The free event will be an adaption featuring Lester’s literary rock duo Mecca Normal. The author will also be signing books at Word On The Street.

The Listener, which was released earlier this year under Arbeiter Ring Publishing, has received great reviews from Publishers Weekly and the prestigious School Library Journal. In the graphic novel, two stories collide: the rise of Hitler and a woman artist searching for meaning in the great art of Europe. According to the press release, “The Listener demands to be added to any shelf on which Anne Frank’s Diary and Spiegelman’s Maus are available.”
